The production process of a film, even a short one, can be a long, timely affair with writing, design, casting, filming, editing and more taking weeks, months and years. Local filmmakers Slam Screen Media made things challenging for themselves earlier this year by making ‘Perspective’, a short film made for The Guardian’s one-minute film competition about the theme of ‘heat’. The team wrote the script in a day, filmed it in a day and then edited it in a day…a pretty spectacular task working within those constraints. Saying that though, the team involved included prolific Portsmouth filmmakers Riyadh Haque, John McGinty, Daniel Hawkins & Bensalem Mitchell, some names you may find familiar if you were lucky to have seen their award winning short film A Hero’s Journey from last year.

P.S. If you like films made under incredible time constraints and the chaos and fun they produce, next week sees the return of Portsmouth’s DVMISSION, the 48 filmmaking challenge that is a key date in the local filmmaking diary.
