Hayling Ferry Back in Action

The Hayling Ferry is a vital piece of transport infrastructure for both the city of Portsmouth and Hayling Island, connecting the two across the short and highly tidal entrance to Langstone Harbour. The ferry itself has over the years has been the only viable way for many school children to travel in the morning and afternoon and is also a key means of transport for many local people travelling for both work and pleasure to each of the islands. The ferry itself is also part of the National Cycle Network and often used all year round for cyclists enjoying the round-harbour ride taking in the Eastern Road, Farlington Marshes and the Hayling Billy.

We’re very happy to hear that from today the ferry is back and better than ever after a difficult time for all sorts of reasons (many laid out in their open letter published recently). Looking forward to the first harbour ride of the year!
