Saturday saw the charity that runs Southsea Skatepark celebrate its third year in charge of the park with a range of BMX, scooter, inline and skateboard events throughout the day. Despite the predicted wet weather the sun came out for much of the early afternoon, which meant the Bored of Southsea Game of SKATE went down in the rink with skaters from all over Portsmouth in attendance. Signature Clothing’s owner Tom took 1st, with the Deputy Mayor in attendance and handing out the prizes (and getting involved with some Instagram selfies). Next up was the highest bunnyhop for BMX and Scooter, with the bar literally set high.
Not long after the showers set in, which called it a day but not before the birthday cake was cut and shared around to everyone who came down. As a charity the skatepark can only continue on with the support of the local community (particularly after a robbery the weekend before) so the support of everyone involved really makes a big difference.
Below are a few photos from Josh Knill, Matt Ankers and myself, to see more give the Southsea Skatepark Facebook page a Like and more will be added in the coming days.
