PORTSMOUTH & SOUTHSEA'S No.1 for ARTS, CULTURE & LIFESTYLE

Throwback Thursday

Here is a great, and somewhat rare, picture of a pre-1904 South Parade Pier. The original structure was twice the length of the current one and was used primarily for boats sailing to locations such as the Isle Of Wight. It was destroyed by fire in 1904 and rebuilt by the council opening in 1908.
