The Civilisation of The Rough crew have a new 60 minute mix series by the different members of the COR family that will run up to their big Boxing Day event at The Vaults in Albert Road. The first of these mixes is by Rosko Siffredi and can be listened to online. Be sure to click the artwork below to listen online, for the track listing and full details of the mix series.
COR’s Mark Persaud sent over some great photos of the most recent COR event, you know these were good times. To see all of the photos click on the ‘continue reading’ link below.
The party hard mad cats over at COR have a little treat in store for you all. It’s their album launch this coming Saturday 25th September at The Loft above The Kings. Be prepared…
This an intimate affair will just 100 tickets available. If you want to get involved please get your ticket as soon as possible, this will sell out and it will sell out quickly. We promise this is not some sort of promoter scarcity tactic, we’ve had a boat load of interest in this soiree with people already waiting for tickets. Once they’re gone they really are gone so please don’t leave it too late!
“We wanted to put something together between the 7 of us that not only mean something to us but would also help sum up the essence of COR journey thus far. … So, we each picked two of our favourite all time tracks (not an easy job at all I can tell ya!) and handed them to Mr ‘Uncle Welshy’ Windsor to take into the studio to mix up a storm.
After numerous visits studios and one completed album that we decided to bin as it didn’t quite meet our rigorous COR quality control (it was good but not quite good enough!) we finally have a completely polished, COR approved 1hrs 19mins and 48sec disco journey for your personal delectation and delight, straight from the hearts of the COR Family.
This is not your straight forward mix album, oh no. Many hours of production have been lovingly poured into the making of this, including a number edits and reworks to harmoniously pull the wide spanning reach of the tracks in the playlist together. Leon, you’ve done a sterling job sir. We hope you like what you hear.”
There are a bunch of old Alfredo mixes to get you in the mood over on the site. Have a listen HERE and also check out some of the seriously cool photos from last year over on the COR Flickr site.
I’m not going to digress too much about how good the COR crew are at throwing parties and simply tell you that they have a HUGE prize for the Easter Bonnet Boutique this April 4th. Fancy a 3 night break in Ibiza for 2…of course you do. Head over to the COR site and get involved HERE. What a whopper.
Roll up, roll up, it’s The Strong Island Bank Holiday Bike Ride. Numbers are looking pretty good and everyone seems to be talking about it. As with the last April ride numbers are sure to vary as it could be cold, rainy or amazing sunshine. Obviously it’s going to be sunny and an amazing day.
The general concensses is to keep everything the same as last year. Starting from The Bridge Tavern at 2pm the ride will take us along the seafront down to Eastney, then back inland slightly and along Highland Road and Albert Road taking us back towards Old Portsmouth and finishing up at The Point, Spice Island. It’s a very casual 8 mile ride that’s perfect for people of all ages, fitness levels and of course any manner of bike. As always a few of us will meet up early at The Bridge Tavern for pre game drinks and food at 12.00pm.
Last years Summer Bike Ride saw over 120 riders and all manner of bicycles in attendance including wheelie popping Chopper riders, Fixed Gear tricksters, Shoppers, Customs, BMX’s, Racers, Trick Bikes, Mountain Bikes, Cruisers and Old Schools, it really was a fantastic mix of two wheeled Strong Islanders. We even had some visitors from as far as Bournemouth.
As always this ride is by no means a political statement, critical mass, reaction towards the council or statement of any kind and is by no means an event, just friends in Southsea getting together for a bike ride to the beach. All very innocent. It’s all about Sunday fun with friends and bikes.
See you all there…

Nice to see the logo I designed for the boys hung up and in full effect.
Just a quick one to past on a lil Chrimbo pressy mix from COR ressie Mark Persaud, to help get you warmed up for the big COR Boxing Day Bonanza on, well, Boxing Day! Pop over to the COR website and grab an earful HERE.
The Great Boxing Day Bonanza is shaping up to be another cracking Boxing Day blow out. If you made it along to our Boxing Day party last year you’ll know what to expect. Except this year we’ve gone even further! You won’t recognise the place!! The backdrops, the sound, lighting – I’m so excited about this one I could just burst as I write this! Have we got a party for you, I hope you can make it down! Oh and get down early to grab a COR badge while stocks last!
If you are planning on poppin along to our lil soirée but have yet to grab a ticket, you’re not too late! There are still a few left but you’ll have to be quick to snatch one. If you need a ticket pop in to Head (53 Albert Road) and pay a visit to Uncle Tim, or you can get in touch with the COR ressies. Just don’t sleep on it if you’re planning on popping down, really don’t want to leave anyone disappointed!
And remember all of the profit will go to the Hillside Youth Centre to buy DJ Equipment for the kids.
Oh, one last thing – If you were planning on giving a COR T-Shirt as a pressy this year but have yet to order, it’s still not too late!
From everyone at COR Towers, Have a wonderful Christmas and a Big Fat THANK YOU for your wonderful support over the past year, it really is super massively appreciated, without you lot COR would not be possible, it’s you who make it what it is and we thank you so much for that!
What are you doing Saturday 5th December? If you’ve got a blank space in you diary then perhaps we could entice you along to a wicked little one off tear up that is being hosted at the Fat Fox in our beloved Southsea village to raise some festive funds for the uber worthy and equally uber brilliant Cancer Research UK. Pencil it it in now.
For the frankly pittance door tax of just £3 you get to feast your ears on some of Southsea’s finest acts and collectives for your party pleasure and knees up delectation…
Hearts Of Oak (performing LIVE), Kry Wolf, Handsome Dave Rocker, Mr Bevis (Southsea’s Beat Box supremo), Gentle Bren, Tombola, Agi al, Sager and as if that weren’t enough to pull you away from X Factor… COR’s Very Own Mark Persaud & Rosko Siffredi will be playing.
We have some great news about our PRIMARY phonography exhibition (find out all the details here) that we can now announce:
- The deadline for submissions has now been extended to Sunday 4th March. We have had some incredible submissions but want to set aside more time to make the exhibition something really special.
- The competition is now open to up to 10 submissions from each individual. With the ability to capture many photos on your phone over the next two months we we want you to not feel restricted to just three. The same rules apply about the photos conforming to compositions using the primary colours though. If you have already submitted feel free to send more photos over as and when you please.
- The exhibition will be hosted by Albert Road’s own Bonzo Studio who are also partnering up with us in the creation of the exhibition space. More news on this soon!
- Finally, we will be running a competition as part of the exhibition where the best three photos submitted will win some incredible prizes. We will be announcing the prizes available very soon but got to say, these will be the best prize haul we have ever offered.
- We will be putting together a poster for the exhibition that will be on sale on the opening night. The poster will feature some of the best submissions and all profits from the sales will go to a local charity (details to follow soon). Due to this we need to say that any photos submitted to PRIMARY will involve you giving us permission to use them for commercial purposes, if you do not want your photo used in this way simply let us know via email.
Well, that is it for now! We really hope to drum up as much coverage locally for PRIMARY in the next couple of months so if you could Facebook/Tweet/+1 about the exhibition we would really appreciate it. We would love this exhibition to be a real reflection of the whole population of Portsmouth with everyone taking part and feeling involved.
