Bank Holiday Weekend Thought of the Week with Handsome ‘Dave’ Rocker

Now then now then boy and girls, it only seems like yesterday I was saying summer is nearly here, and here we are nearly at the end of the bar b q season. Which is wal bum! But fear not the next few weeks are gonna be the best by a long way……….

Starting off this weekend, half of Red Indie are getting married so Saturday night is going to be great fun in the LJRs, I’m gonna be dropping none stop hit after non stop hit, the fun starts around 8 and finishes when ever you want but the pub shuts at 1am.

Then on to everybody’s favourite Sunday shantathon the legendary august bank holiday!!!! Where once again it’s a crazy Sumo Sunday at LJRs joining me on the old wheels of steel with large magnets in, is the Albino Monkey ahead of his 1st international release on the 14th of September and another superstar by the name of Leatherhead. It’s guaranteed to be cool, electro and a bit ravey.

But also just down the road at the Liberal Club the C.O.R. disco queens have got Greg Wilson playing alongside the usual suspects in Southsea’s 1st ever A&E ward, for real. Also Southsea being Southsea there’s heaps of other bits and pieces going on dain the seaside from dog shows to kite contests. Not forgetting all you culture vultures that leave Southsea this weekend, so whether you’re at Reading, Notting Hill, Shambala or even staying in Southsea please respect one and other and remember you are representing my town and we are a lot cooler than everyone else with out even trying.

Hope to see you all over the next few days, as usual come and say hi (I like pear cider) have lots of fun and above all RAVE SAFE!

Love as ever Handsome Dave Rocker. xxxxx

We Supply MOVEMENT featuring RYAN JARMAN

Okay, so Southsea Unite might have fallen through…. for now! But that’s not going to stop the official Southsea Unite, WSM, Strong Island after party at The Little Johnny Russells now is it. Once again the LJR and WSM team have bagged a winner with Ryan Jarman from The Cribs with his choice indie cuts thrown in alongside some classic tracks from his own collection.

It’s a real shame Southsea Unite didn’t get it’s chance, the Portsmouth Council forms alone would have taken a year to fill in, but rest assured Mr Dave Rocker will pull it all together for next year and is building some pretty good contacts that can help his dream come true.

Hopefully it will be nice weather this weekend. I might even partake in a little picnic or at the very least a few beers. Maybe I’ll see you out and about.

Thought of the Week with Handsome ‘Dave’ Rocker

Summer is definitely here cos I’m of on my travels from festi to festi, its Glade this weekend and then straight off to Camp Bestival, so I may not be posting anything next week guys but I’m sure you’ll be ok.

Anyways as festi’s are happening everywhere I just want to give you a little tip that always pays off, when buying you booze get an extra few cans and give them to the people either side of you, ideally after you watched them set their tents up. This is a clever move in many ways.

1. They instantly like you. If you sit about all night chatting by the tents his bird is going to be saying go and tell them to shut up, but he’ll say no they’re ok they sorted us out when we put the tent up.

2. Insurance policy, if they see anyone going in your tent that shouldn’t be they’ll stop them (in my experience)

3. You get to weigh them up, they might have something you would like, or if they’re going to be the type to piss in your porch.

I’m of to pack my wellies cos we’re in for a wet one. Love as always……..handsome

Thought of the Week with Handsome ‘Dave’ Rocker

Thought/comment of the week this week is me having a bit of a rant, so bare with me.

As you all know we have been enjoying some fabulous weather of late and everyone has been a lot happier and southsea on the whole has been a great place to be. However there is one little thing that really annoys me, THE PRICE OF SUN CREAM, so I feel stealing sun cream is not really a crime as long as you don’t steal the most expensive brands. My argument for this is………….if you get caught and it goes to court then you simply say you couldn’t afford any and you were locked out, so if they expect you to get cancer then they could have your death on they’re hands.
And yes girls my opinion is the same for ladies and tampax.

I know its not really a thought of the week but I felt I needed to share it with you guys.

See you next week, Handsome dizzzzle.

Thought of the Week with Handsome ‘Dave’ Rocker

Yo yo yo, got another snippet of wise info for ya’ll.

After a crazy bank holiday weekend in our fantastic sub city, and a hell of a lot of meeting new people………you know who you are guys, I’m just saying hello. Its that easy! I fell back in love with a little treat that for a while I ignored. I’ve got three little words for you, CHEESE ON TOAST! If I was a real doctor this would be the cure for everything unless you were dairy intolerant, it instantly made me feel better and repeatedly set me up for another days boozing.

But it doesn’t stop at just cheese I like a bit of marmite or even a bit of tomato puree. It’s feedback time, I want to here all of you’re favourite cheese on toast combo’s.

That’s it for another week thanks for all the feedback, peace out. Handsome…

Thought of the Week with Handsome ‘Dave’ Rocker

Yo, welcome to the first of Handsome “Dave” Rockers thought of the week, as this is the first instalment I thought it better be a good one, so here we go.

You know when you’re out and about in our beautiful post code and you often see some familiar faces, but you don’t know them to “talk to” WELL yes you do. They’re also thinking the same thing and I want to bring this to a stop! More so now than ever all of our social groups are entwined, could be the pubs we hang in, the bands we’re into or where we spend our spare time. But here it is, this is what I want you to do to make this a even better place to be…

Say hello to two people you’ve never spoke to, but you recognize, and if it gets awkward explain that I put you up to it…

Its easy and on the whole, people are nice. Catch you laters party people, all my love Handsome “Dave” Rocker.

Features

PRIMARY – Extended & Improved

We have some great news about our PRIMARY phonography exhibition (find out all the details here) that we can now announce:

- The deadline for submissions has now been extended to Sunday 4th March. We have had some incredible submissions but want to set aside more time to make the exhibition something really special.

- The competition is now open to up to 10 submissions from each individual. With the ability to capture many photos on your phone over the next two months we we want you to not feel restricted to just three. The same rules apply about the photos conforming to compositions using the primary colours though. If you have already submitted feel free to send more photos over as and when you please.

- The exhibition will be hosted by Albert Road’s own Bonzo Studio who are also partnering up with us in the creation of the exhibition space. More news on this soon!

- Finally, we will be running a competition as part of the exhibition where the best three photos submitted will win some incredible prizes. We will be announcing the prizes available very soon but got to say, these will be the best prize haul we have ever offered.

- We will be putting together a poster for the exhibition that will be on sale on the opening night. The poster will feature some of the best submissions and all profits from the sales will go to a local charity (details to follow soon). Due to this we need to say that any photos submitted to PRIMARY will involve you giving us permission to use them for commercial purposes, if you do not want your photo used in this way simply let us know via email.

Well, that is it for now! We really hope to drum up as much coverage locally for PRIMARY in the next couple of months so if you could Facebook/Tweet/+1 about the exhibition we would really appreciate it. We would love this exhibition to be a real reflection of the whole population of Portsmouth with everyone taking part and feeling involved.
