“My approach to photography is not just based upon the visual stimuli that surrounds me but is informed by my emotions and the sensory information an environment, place or subject presents to me. With influences as diverse as Don McCullin, William Eggleston & Norman Parkinson to name but a few. I refer as much as to their philosophies as I do their images and imagery. I like to think of my images as a part of a story, informing but also creating questions.”

By 6.30pm the place was heaving and an incredible turnout. Tristan, Paul and I were pretty impressed with the numbers – in excess of 500 people! the tower was crammed full with hardly any space to move. We ran out of Strong Island Hopper quite early so apologies for those of you that never got to try any.

Thanks to all the creatives that have taken part, all working to the theme ‘Strong Island’ and thanks to everyone that came along and made it a night to remember. Jack Palmer and Will McNicol thanks for the music. The unofficial after party took place in the oldest pub in Portsmouth – The Dolphin, and again many pints of local Irving Ale went down well.

Remember that the exhibition runs from Tues to Sun 10-3pm until 1st May. Go and snap up the work and support the local creative movement. The shop also stocks work from Badger Press, Southsea Gallery, aspex, Bored of Southsea, Southsea Skatepark, Jodie Silsby, James Weaver, All About Tea and Strong Island tees, totes, notebooks and much more.
