Steve Slingeneyer from Soulwax played Yoshi! at The One Eyed Dog on Saturday night and destroyed it. Big thanks to Graham and everyone involved, was an awesome evening/morning.
More photos over at Forever Circling and a load more to go up on The Dog’s new website soon, more news on that when it goes live.
Here are a few photos from Saturday night’s Brknk with Shy FX in The One Eyed Dog. There are some more over at Forever Circling and a load will probably go up on The One Eyed Dog’s Facebook group soon.
A stalwart of the UK Jungle and Drum ‘n’ Bass scene for 15+ years, Shy FX will be performing at The Dog as part of BRKNK on Saturday 10th. As well as Shy FX there will also be Charge, SDM, Triple M, Lucky Darren and Skydro. It kicks off at 8pm and kicks out a 2am, tickets are £8. I’ll be taking photos during the evening so if you see someone struggling to focus in the dark, say hi.
A quick reminder, Civilisation of the Rough are once again pushing the boat out this weekend with TWO parties over the Love Albert Road weekend. Saturday sees (no pun intended) The One Eyed Wedding, the Ceremony starting at 7.30pm sharp at The Disused Church on the corner of Albert Rd/Victoria Rd South which is the meeting point —then onto the Wedding Reception at The One Eyed Dog from 8pm till 2am when the party begins. The wedding DJs will be Mick Hood as The Bride, Mr/Ms Kerry ”Wogan” as The Groom and Leon Windsor presiding over the ceremony as The Arch Bishop of Newport.
On Sunday the COR wil be hosting the Love Albert Rd Day *OFFICIAL* Closing Party at The One Eyed Dog, kicking off from 7pm. The special guest for the night will be Simon Young (Fabric, Manumission, Shrunken Head) and the COR residents will be lending a hand.
As per usual tickets are £5 from HEAD in Albert Road and will need to be grabbed ASAP as COR events are always heaving. For more information hit up the Facebook event and www.c-o-r.co.uk.
Quite possibly one of the best ideas ever, Hip Hop Karaoke will rock and shock the nation. Well, The One Eyed Dog anyway. Keep your self posted on Facebook, brush of your gold chain, take your laces outta your Adidas and get down to get down.
Brknk & 10Ton have organised a £1 on the door event at the One Eyed Dog on Sunday 30th. Dubstep, Fidget and Mashup will be served up by Charge, SDM, Triple M and Vortechtral. Knowing the nights in The Dog, this will be going off.

DIRTBOX (Ugly Beats / Kiss My Bass)

SDM (10 TON / Breakneck)
LUCKY DARREN (Hated In The Face)
We are very happy to announce the details for our Primary exhibition, with it’s preview night on Friday 1st June at Bonzo in Albert Road. We had well over 500 submitted photos by well over 100 different local photographers, all using their mobile phone cameras and an assortment of different apps like Instagram, Camera+, etc. The exhibition format itself will be something new and previously unseen in Portsmouth in this form and we will be unveiling the winners of competition too, with loads of photography related prizes. There will also be food, drink and some surprises we’ll let you know about nearer the time. This may well be one of the largest community arts projects in the city in relation to the number of people who actively participated and we really hope everyone can make it down to see this absolutely unique view of our city and it’s people.
If you cannot make it down on Friday the exhibition will run through the whole of June so be sure to pop along. After the exhibition we will have an online, interactive gallery of all of the images to form a legacy to the project.
As you may know each year we run a home brew competition in February where the winning brew has the opportunity to be brewed by Irving & Co Brewing Co. and sold around the city in the summer. Last year’s brew, the Strong Island Hopper Ale, was hugely successful being one of Inving’s best selling ales and selling out so quickly it went through a second brew run. This year’s winning ale is Dry Dock No. 1, originally brewed by Lee Immins, went on sale in some of Portsmouth and Southsea’s pubs over the weekend.
We spoke to The Hole in The Wall in Southsea who said the new ale went down a storm with it being their best seller on Sunday and with almost two barrels empty by the end of the Bank Holiday weekend. Those guys at the Hole in The Wall and their regular ale drinkers know their stuff so for us this was amazing early news with the ale.
To officially launch Dry Dock No. 1 we are having a launch party with the lovely souls at The Belle Isle on Thursday evening. The ale will be on full flow, come down and try a pint or two. As well as being on sale all around the city the ale will also be available in Chichester’s Belle Isle too, so you can drink it away from home for the first time too.
